He created six giant paintings of exotic birds for Disney World and has created exhibits and murals for the Dallas Children’s Museum, the Smithsonian, Fernbank Museum of Natural History in Atlanta, and the Fulton County Schools Teaching Museum, to name a few.
Early days of Brookhaven’s library
Brookhaven’s library history began on the back porch of the home of Edna and Weldon Shows.
The women of the early DeKalb County library
The Decatur Library was first established in 1925 in the Decatur Bank & Trust Company Building. Later it operated in City Hall. Maud Burrus was one of the women who served as a part time Decatur librarian during that time until 1930 when she became full-time librarian.
The first Dunwoody Library
The first Dunwoody library was not in the same location as the current Dunwoody library. It was at 5064 Nandina Lane, where the offices of the Dunwoody Crier newspaper were once located and where Ernie’s Barbershop, Moondog Growlers and other businesses are located today.
